Veterinarian Position

Are you an experienced small animal veterinarian, or new/recent graduate looking for a supportive work environment? Do you want to have fun while you work in a modern and well-equipped hospital? The Work: 

Enjoy a balanced 30-hour work week on average – fewer or more hours negotiable. We prioritize leaving on time at the end of the day with a flexible schedule that allows ample time for your other activities and interests.

Our current DVM schedule is an average of 4 work days per week with a mix of 8am-2pm and 10am-6pm shifts.

High support staff to veterinarian ratio (five per FTE vet), resulting in a collaborative and nurturing team-based environment.

We like to have fun while we work! (Check out our social media) with occasional paid lunches and fun staff activities like candle making, walking with goats, and wreath making workshops.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary negotiable, based on recent OVMA Report on Compensation and Benefits.

Starting with 3 weeks vacation and 10 sick/personal days per year to support your well-being.

Up to 5 days and $1,500 budget allowance for Continuing Education in your first year, along with negotiable equipment costs.

Coverage for professional membership fees, including CVO fees, OVMA membership, VIN subscription, and others negotiable.

–          Have an interest in surgery but feel intimidated by it? Scrub in with Dr Heather as she performs both elective and emergency procedures.

–           Want more experience with dentistry? Work alongside Dr Faye as she performs comprehensive dental exams and extractions.

–          Do you enjoy working up challenging medical cases but want a little guidance? Dr Jennifer is here for you to discuss laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging.

You have a professional interest that you want to explore or expand. We support our associates in learning new skills.

You’re seeking a workplace with a small-town feel and big city equipment, offering the best of both worlds for families and for those who love the outdoors.

And, of course, licensed with the CVO.

 

About Us: 

Two locations: one part-time office in an underserved area two days per week and one full-service hospital open six days a week.

Our flagship clinic in Napanee is open Monday to Thursday 8 am to 6 pm, Friday 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 8 am to noon (closed on holiday weekends).

This hospital, with a recent expansion and renovation completed in March 2023, is fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical tools, including advanced anaesthesia monitoring, digital radiography, ultrasound, dental suite, and more.

We are AAFP Feline-friendly Gold standard with cat-specific facilities to ensure the comfort of our feline patients.

We are also certified in low-stress handling, ensuring a positive experience for ourselves, our patients, and our amazing clients.

 

About Napanee:

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario within easy travel distance from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, Napanee offers the benefits of small town living without the isolation. We are close to the beaches of Sandbanks, near the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and surrounded by conservation areas, lakes and trails for exploring and outdoor activities.
